JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing Communication Program provides leadership and management oversight to the Marketing Communication Department.  The Director of Program is responsible for the development and implantation of an innovative year round marketing strategy to increase visibility of, knowledge of, and participation in Girl Scouts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for the development and implementation of a marketing communication strategy and yearlong marketing plan.
  2. Manages public relations communication both internal and external; including preparing speeches and public correspondence on behalf of the Council.
  3. Manages advertising activities through all forms of media.
  4. Responsible for the development and implementation of the Council's Crisis Communication Plan.
  5. Ensures print quality and brand standards are adhered to with both internal and external users.
  6. Coordinates all marketing and print production with vendors.
  7. Ensures Council website and social media sites are updated with current and relevant information.
  8. Works with departments to craft messages and marketing materials for Council events, recruitment, and other promotional efforts.
  9. Supervises the Marketing Communication team; monitors and evaluates employee performance, providing on-going feedback to maximize productivity and excellent customer service.
  10. Participates in the interviewing and selection of new hires; development and communication of employee and team goals; plans, assigns, and monitors work; trains and coaches staff and provides support for problem solving and conflict resolution.
  11. Provides coaching and training opportunities to improve employee performance and job satisfaction.
  12. Manages and coordinates department budget and resource allocations.
  13. Interprets, applies, and communicates the Girl Scout Leadership Experience philosophy and Council policies, procedures, and standards to volunteers.
  14. Utilizes the Council's customer relationship management systems to manage, support, and track interactions with volunteers.
  15. Works with cross-functional teams to develop innovative techniques to ensure on going effective delivery of the recruitment and placement strategies.
  16. Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the Council.
  17. Promotes and assists with Council wide programs, activities, public relations and fund development endeavors.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or other related degrees
  • 3 years experience in Marketing or other related fields
  • 1 years prior supervisory / management experience.
  • Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Willingness to spend time outside the office travelling, meeting with community members, attending Council programs or other events.
  • Excellent technical computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and customer relationship management systems or other data tracking systems.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Access to reliable transportation and proof of vehicle insurance
  • Belief in and supports the mission of the Girl Scouts.
  • Become a registered Girl Scout member.
