JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Human Resources proven experience working in a fast-paced environment with a strong background in employee relations, recruitment/on-boarding, and who has a collaborative approach to fostering a high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, high quality standards, goal attainment, and ongoing development of an engaged workforce.                                                   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Operate as an HR business partner with other teams in the organization and have the ability to develop, manage, and showcase strong employee relation skills (providing advice on the application of policies and procedures, performance management, disciplinary actions, and supervisory training needs, etc.).
  2. Coaches managers and helps them to be effective leaders and great coaches for their direct reports.
  3. Has a proven ability to interpret and explain HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations, and have a pro-active approach to staying abreast on the latest federal and state HR laws and how they could impact the Council.
  4. Acts as program Administrator for key HR functions: compensation, recruitment, on-boarding, performance management program, benefits, training, etc.
  5. Manages and analyzes employment-related data and prepare GSUSA- required and any federal/state required, reports. Ability to research and analyze data for special projects.
  6. Manage and adhere to a budget.
  7. Develops and/or coordinates training and other development opportunities for employees throughout the Council.
  8. Promotes inclusion and diversity in all areas of work.
  9. Maintains all personnel records and ensures HR compliance with organizational records retention and security guidelines.
  10. Maintains strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  11. Ensures all activities are in compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws.
  12. Administers the Council's performance management program; trains staff in coaching and feedback techniques and in conducting formal performance appraisals.
  13. Analyzes local, regional, and national salary and benefit surveys and data; develops and recommends strategies for attaining the Council's compensation philosophy; administers salary and benefit programs.
  14. Develops and/or conducts comprehensive recruiting efforts for all Council staff, including seasonal and temporary.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.
  16. Works with cross-functional teams to develop innovative techniques to ensure on-going effective delivery of the recruitment and placement strategies.
  17. Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the Council.
  18. Promotes and assists with Council-wide programs, activities, public relations, and fund development endeavors.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned.

 POSITION QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management or PHR/SPHR or equivalent combination of work experience and education
  • Minimum three years of hands-on Management level Human Resource experience
  • At least three years of direct supervisor experience
  • Prior experience supporting multiple locations/sites a plus
  • Strong employee relations background
  • Strong knowledge of current HR law and practices
  • Proven experience with full-life cycle recruitment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines
  • Outstanding communication, multi-tasking and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends
  • Dependable transportation necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Belief in and supports the mission of Girl Scouts
  • Become a Registered Girl Scout member
