Grant Writer- WB

The Grant Writer works in partnership with other operational areas to support the mission, goals, and strategic priorities of the council. The Grant Writer is predominantly responsible for cultivating funding partnerships through grants to meet council fundraising goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for researching, identifying, and cultivating new and ongoing grant prospects to ensure a growing base of support.
  2. Writes, edits, and develops engaging proposals and meets funding deadlines.
  3. Reports regularly on progress for fundraising initiatives.
  4. Monitors development outcomes in order to increase fund development growth.
  5. Manages portfolio of funders to retain support and look for new prospects.
  6. Ensures that all annual donors receive appropriate recognition and communications.
  7. Develops effective working relationships with donors, volunteers, and foundation representatives to nurture connections to the organization.
  8. Assists with development of project plans and participates in budget development.
  9. Works with fund development team to analyze, develop and implement programs and strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of funding prospects to meet council fundraising goals.
  10. Promotes and assists with council wide programs, activities, public relations, and fund development endeavors.
  11. Embrace fund development as an important component of job-related responsibilities by contributing personally and seizing opportunities to make the Girl Scout case for support.
  12. Represent Girl Scouts with brand presentation at speaking engagements.
  13. Continually seeks and accepts opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  14. Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the Council.
  15. Promotes and assists with Council-wide programs, activities, public relations, and fund development endeavors.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two or more years of successful fundraising experience
  • Must be goal oriented, detailed, and organized
  • Excellent organizational skills and communication skills
  • Able to balance competing priorities and tight deadlines
