JOB SUMMARY

The Retail Specialist serves as the first point of contact for retail experiences in Girl Scout shops including pop-up shops.  The Retail Specialist provides the highest level of customer service to all members and customers, both external and internal. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. Serves as the first point of contact for retail experiences in shops, including pop-up shops.
  2. Responsible for operating all mobile shop activity including greeting customers, sales, cashier, product set-up, stocking and maintaining inventory.
  3. Responds to all inquiries in an appropriate, prompt, and efficient manner; working to provide a positive customer experiences.
  4. Coaches and anticipates volunteer needs and provides value added information. Works to up-sell and get the ad-on sales whenever possible.
  5. Responsible for promptly and accurately processes cash and credit card payments; accountable for the receipt of all money and assures the security of funds, personal, and proprietary information.
  6. Works with the Director of Retail Operations to stock and maintain the retail shop, making suggestion on merchandise to be carried in the mobile shop.
  7. Participates in special program events with mobile shops.
  8. Provides coverage of retail shops across the council when needed.
  9. Provides administrative support across all departments as needed.
  10. Completes all required paperwork and prepares a variety of status reports including activity, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
  11. Works with cross-functional teams to develop innovative techniques to ensure ongoing support for council strategic plans and goals.
  12. Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
  13. Promotes and assists with Council-wide programs, activities, public relations and fund development endeavors.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate Degree with 1 year retail experience or a High School degree/GED with a minimum of 3 years retail experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to travel, load, unload and set-up pop-up shops.
  • Able to sit upright and view computer screen for several hours at a time.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook; POS systems or other data tracking systems.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Believes in and supports the mission of the Girl Scouts.
  • Become a registered Girl Scout member.
